This piece was a collaboration with Karla of Love Karla Designs, a well-known Canadian artist whose specialty is gorgeous floral illustrations

Before starting, Karla sent me a list of flowers and their meanings for us to use in the piece, and we decided on the following... Black Poplar for courage, King Protea for change and transformation, Cabbage Rose to symbolize being an ambassador of love, Almond Flowers to represent hope, Sweet Alyssum meaning worth beyond beauty and Persicaria Flowers for restoration.

Every part of this collaboration has significance. The stars and moon in her hair represent black girl magic, a butterfly on her chest for metamorphosis and life, a candle in honor of lives lost to racism... all printed on thick ivory paper to hang in your home. The process was an intentional and delicate one, and we were so pleased with the final result. Scroll down to make a purchase and support Black Women's Health Imperative.
